Living Wrecks - The Marine Life of Scapa Flow

6 April 2019 to 2 November 2019

Far from lying dormant and silent, Scapa Flow's wrecks are teeming with life. The historic wrecks provide vital habitats for rare and endangered species.

This summer's temporary exhibition explains how historical events over the last century have influenced the creatures which live there. Visitors will 'meet the species' and learn how Scapa Flow contributes to current global issues such as climate change and microplastics.

Stromness museum has been working with Heriot Watt University and other local partners to produce this interactive exhibition, which will interest visitors of all ages.
