Stromness Glimmers 2026: A Festival of Light
The Móti collective of artists present Stromness Glimmers 2026: A Festival of Light. Stromness Museum will be one of the festival's indoor hubs, opening 6pm-9pm each evening and welcoming visitors free of charge to view our current Sea Stories exhibition and permanent displays.
In the dark evenings of 12–14 November 2026, the festival will transform the streets of Stromness into a free, spectacular gallery of illuminated artworks for all to enjoy and explore. Featuring work by some of Móti's members along with a selection of other talented local artists, supported by Orkney Islands Council Culture Fund and Sutherland's Pharmacy.
Inspiration for the naming of the festival came from the closing line of the beautiful reflective poem 'Lux Perpetua' by Stromness’s very own 'Poet Laureate', George Mackay Brown – 'By such glimmers we seek you.'
The promotional artwork was created by Mal Grieve, with printing support from Megumi Barrington Uenoyama, and graphic design by Frances Scott.
